Weigh the amount of Hideglue needed and pour water in the cup with glue until all of the glue is wet. Let the glue settle for at least 40 minutes.
Weigh the amount of fibers needed.
(When the 40 minutes are done) Start melting the glue au bain-marie. Add some more water to the glue until the mixture doesn't look dry anymore. If you add too much water, it can be carefully removed.
When the glue is liquid, mix it with the fibers. Be sure to mix well so there are no dry fibers left over.
Swiftly pour the mixture in a mold, before the glue can harden. This can be a plate* or a custom made 3D mold.
Close the mold and put pressure on it. For smaller shapes, clamps suffice. When you make larger shapes (larger than your hand) you will need a press with 5+ tons. Wait for 10 minutes.
Open the mold and carefully remove the Knotplex. If you did not apply enough pressure, the shape can break.
Leave the Knotplex to dry for a week. Make sure the Knotplex has a supply of fresh air all around the shape, so it doesn't mold, s don't leave it in the mold for too long.
*Plates can be made outside of the Industrial Design Center only. Inside the IDC, 3D shapes as a (nearly) final product are a must to protect the machinery system inside.
End Of Life
Large pieces of knotplex
Glue that hasn't been used can be remelted for up to 2 weeks after first use
